Greenwood CemeteryGreenwood Cemetery was established as a necessity just after the founding of Columbia in 1808. A man had died from a mule kick to the head and he had to be buried. Today the old cemetery holds many beautiful examples of early American stonework, including the box tombs of the parents of President James K. Polk and various members of his family. Polk's Boyhood HomeNashville Hway, Columbia, TN 4.2014
James K. Polk, 11th President of the United States, spent most of his childhood in Maury County and in Columbia for several of those years. He was born in North Carolina in 1795, but accompanied his parents to Maury County at the age of 11 years. The Samuel Polk family first settled on a track of land about five miles north of Columbia, on what was to become known in later years as the Nashville Highway (Hwy. 31). Five miles north of Spring Hill. How the fire started is still unknown today?1200,508Price On Request -
